Origins of Military Mentorship Mastermind

Over the months of 2021, the first Cohort of Military Mentorship Mastermind developed from a motivated group of proven leaders who came together to mentor each other and grow together as each transitioned from military leadership roles to corporate influencers.
Here is our story... To grow, evolve and mature at the accelerated rate required for military leaders, we surround ourselves with others like us...similar in purpose, passion, drive, and determination. And these connections are never one-way, they require open communication with two-way mentorship and advice. These purposeful peers provide a unique growth platform, no repercussions on an open discussion with both an expectation and a requirement for truth. Truth about what we did right, what we did wrong and what we could contribute to each other behind the scenes. These relationships are only successful when professional discretion was exerted to maintain confidentiality at the proper level. More importantly, each participant must treat the relationship like a bank account, always ensuring contributions greater than the amount withdrawn. These military mentorship masterminds continue to grow in their value as each of us now find ourselves in the corporate world facing new challenges. From these simply complex monthly interactions grew this effort: To put pen to paper with some of our insights. We in no way think we have the answers, only that we are willing to devote time to becoming more tomorrow than we are today. And we are willing to invest in others because we know that is how we grow ourselves. We did not have the time to compose this manuscript, but collectively felt we would be remiss if we did not put to empower those who follow in our footsteps. Our hope is these simple pages will be the seed to grow the tree of success stronger than it is today and that it inspires others to do the same. Our dedication is to continuous improvement. Our quest is for something we can never achieve: Perfection. While we know perfection is likely impossible, it’s the pursuit of perfection that will ensure we get closer each day to achieving it. Perfection is about the result, and excellence is about the process by which we perform. Military Mentorship Mastermind Cohort One was built deliberately. From individual monthly mentorship calls, we decided to form a collective. In the spirit of Jim Rohn’s logic that you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with, we sat in front of a whiteboard and began to examine people for the collective. They needed to be aligned in mission, motivation, and passion. Their credibility as senior military leaders must be established and they must be open to the concept of joining forces for the collective good, for no monetary gain. From this innovative session, the group became clear. As the invitations went out, they came back even faster, each accepted with the same passion with which they were sent! The group was set, the project established, and the challenge accepted. As you ponder the following pages, remember values lie at the heart of our story...and culminate in a family, one not connected in name but in mission, belief, passion, purpose, and dedication. It is our quest to be better tomorrow than we were today and to help others achieve self-actualization while we are on the journey to reach our true potential!
